ABOUT Weibel Family Vineyards & Winery

When Rudolf and his son Fred Weibel, Sr., came to California they brought with them classic, old-world winemaking techniques and traditions, combined with a personal commitment to quality and excellence.

Today, Weibel Vineyards is under the direction of Fred Weibel Jr., President and Owner. Working along with him is Gary Habluetzel, Fred’s cousin, as Vice President in charge of production. Together they carry on the traditions of hard work and excellence established many years ago by Rudolf Weibel.

In his role as the Director of Winemaking for Weibel Family Vineyards & Winery, Owen works with the 500-acre H&W Estate Vineyards, which are owned by Fred Weibel and his cousin and partner Gary Habluetzal. "I have been buying grapes from Mendocino for many years, and have a great appreciation for the vineyards in Redwood, Potter, and McDowell Valley regions," notes Owen about the Weibel's vineyards.

Weibel Family Vineyards & Winery was a pioneer in the Mendocino County appellation, establishing a winery and vineyard in Redwood Valley in 1972. The Weibel’s relocated their bottling facility in April 1996 to Woodbridge, California because the vineyards in Mission San Jose became more valuable for homes than for vineyard use. 10 years later, Weibel purchased a winery with vineyards outside of Hopland in 2006, re-establishing their roots in Mendocino County once more.
